When safety comes first, the difference shows in the work we deliver and the trust we build along the way.
Nowhere is this more evident than in Grand Rapids, Michigan at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport. Our boots hit the site in October 2023, but the groundwork for success was laid long before then. Since the early planning stages in the Spring of 2022, we’ve worked closely with Turner Construction to bring the highly visible and complex Consolidated Rental Car Facility (ConRAC) to life.
ConRAC is both high-stakes and high-profile, and this is where Kent Concrete thrives. With multiple concrete and structural elements, our signature red helmets dominate the site. Beyond visibility, it’s about responsibility.
Every morning starts the same way at ConRAC: a 7 a.m. pre-task planning meeting where all teams gather to organize the day’s work. Midwest Safety Manager Matt Cassar puts it best: “These meetings are integral to the flow of work on-site, allowing us to adapt quickly to any challenges and maintain clear communication across teams.” Pre-task planning is followed by daily stretch and flex, which sets the tone for a productive, safe day ahead. Ask anyone onsite and they’ll tell you this small ritual makes a big difference.
Our team’s ability to adapt, learn, and lead enables us to overcome challenges without compromising safety or quality. We maintain an environment where every individual feels empowered to speak up, contribute ideas, and take ownership of their personal and team safety. By fostering a culture of mutual respect and accountability, we ensure that safety is a shared responsibility.
